The problem

Genotype compatibility matters enormously in regions where sickle cell carriage is common, but the information reaches people as rumour. Anything that automates it walks straight into medical-claims territory — which is exactly where most consumer health apps get it wrong.

The approach

1. Set a hard positioning rule before any code: the product provides educational guidance and does not replace professional medical diagnosis. It never infers health data from faces or body images — only from printed laboratory documents, with explicit user confirmation.
2. Separated deterministic engines from AI. Compatibility outcomes are computed, not generated; the AI layer explains results, it does not decide them.
3. Maintained a Medical Claims Register documenting every medical statement the product makes, its evidence basis, and a clinician sign-off protocol.
4. Documented the whole thing to submission standard — PRD, data model, architecture, security and GDPR consent, release signing and a Play Store data-safety packet.
